On November 3, 2013, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra led, together with the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra's commissioned composer Zhao Lin's double concerto for cello and sheng ‘Duo’ which was a world premiere at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center by internationally renowned cellist Yo-yo Ma and Wu Tong, a non-geneticist and folk musician. The concerto ‘Duo’ was composed by Music Bridge Culture, which is the first time in China to be jointly commissioned by three major orchestras, and brings a "Cello and Sheng ensemble" audio-visual feast for the general public. The concerto ‘Duo’ is based on "The Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" written by Master Xuanzang, which contains strong western colors and Buddhist philosophy. ‘Duo’ innovatively combines Sheng and Cello tells the Chinese story and plays the Chinese spirit with Chinese and Western musical elements, in which the floating and ethereal sound of Sheng and the singing and sobbing sound of Cello are interwoven to reveal the pursuit of dreams and spirit, and reflect the valuable Silk Road spirit of perseverance, persistence and dreams pursuit, which has won wide recognition and praise on the stage at home and abroad.
